We all saw this news coming but now it is official. Martin Garrix, the world famous DJ from Amstelveen (Amsterdam) drags his former manager and producer Eelko van Kooten of Spinnin’ Records to court.

The young artist with the age of only 19 years old accuses Eelke van Kooten of deception when signing his first record deal at Spinnin’ Records. The global breakthrough of Martin Garrix was with the song “Animals” which was signed at Spinnin’ Records in 2013. Last summer we all received the news that Martin Garrix left MusicAllstars Management (part of the Spinnin’ Record Music Group) and Eelko van Kooten. Now, three years later, Martin Garrix starts a lawsuit against Eelko and his company in which Martin  wants to get his rights back via the lawsuit of his own music and demands an inspection of the administration at Spinnin’ Records.

eelko van kooten we want edmAccording to the DJ Eelko van Kooten deliberately him three years ago with”false and misleading information” , both when he was with the label Spinnin ‘Records and the management firm of Eelko van Kooten called MusicAllstars. So Martin Garrix was in his own words at the age of 16 without any experience in the music industry, forced to transfer the ownership of his own music productions to Spinnin ‘ Records.

Garrix argues that Van Kooten also wrongly claimed that he was forced to sign for both the management company and at his record label in a contract. Whereas the interests and bargaining power of Garrix weren’t top-notch and even harmed him in curtain ways. “Only the interests of Van Kooten itself were optimally looked after in the contract(s)”.

Garrix ‘lawyer Oktay Düzgün does not comment about the case against Spinnin’ Records, “I do not comment on here.” Van Kooten spokesman said no comment on the accusations against van Kooten. Martin Garrix (in daily life Martijn Garritsen called) recently rised in the international DJ rankings to the third place. He is known everywhere as a major contender for the title of best DJ in the world in 2015, but he lost narrowly to the Belgian-Greek duo Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike.
