Back in the days there wasn’t an EDM label to push every song that was “loud and hard”. We used to had two sub main genres which we called: House and Electro (which is now adopted to “EDM” including all its sub-genres). Though there have been several tunes which are the god fathers of EDM we know as today. The following EDM tracks are (in our eyes) the most iconic EDM tracks of the past century which have made the current scene bigger, harder and better!
1. Fedde Le Grand – Put Your Hands Up For Detroit
It all begun with the killer track that exploded into the world: Fedde le Grand – Put Your Hands Up For Detroit. Put Your Hands Up For Detroit was the introduction of Dance music in the United States of America (which was also covered by the Detroit based D12 which gave the tune extra momentum).
2. Steve Angello & Laidback Luke – Be
The second track that really made an impact came out in 2007 from the Swedish DJ Steve Angello and the Dutch DJ Laidback Luke. This original track by Steve and Luke was another iconic track for the scene. Not only the original was great, the remix Hardwell did later on (Show Me Love) really exploded in the dance scene. We believe that this particular remix is one of the reasons that Hardwell got picked up by a lot of fans and DJ’s across the globe with that track.
3. Kid Cudi vs. Crookers – Day ‘n’ Night
In 2009 there was a new sound getting introduced by the likes of Crookers. It was bolder, harder and with more energy (which we now hear a lot more with new EDM tracks). This track by the Crookers is a remix of the original hip-hop track by Kid Cudi. They made “Day ‘n’ Night” more uptempo and more agressive.
4. Swedish House Mafia – One
This track is one of the most Iconic tunes of the 2010 festival season. Swedish House Mafia have teamed up with Pharrel Williams to make the #1 hit record: ONE. Besides the uplifting vocals, great synths and uplifting vibes we love this track because of the ”weird” cut sample intro! This track made Swedish House Mafia after the Miami Winter Music Conference as one of the most iconic DJ group ever, yet another reason to put these guys at #4 in the most iconic House tracks of all time!
5. Avicii – Levels
it seams that the Swedish DJ’s and Producers got inspired by the Swedish House Mafia team, and yet again a new legend of tomorrow rose: Avicii! His tune “Levels” was an instant floorfiller! Levels has been played literally on every Festival across the globe when it has been released back in 2011, and we know 100% sure that if you play this track for your parents they will knock their heads on the beat! Feelgood vibes with great energy are the secret ingredients in this must-have tune of 2011.
6. Martin Garrix – Animals
There he was, out of the blue: MARTIN GARRIX! At the age of 16 he made the anthem of his generation: Animals. The track has been picked up by the biggest label on earth (Spinnin’ Records) and made Martin Garrix a superstar DJ, but we bet you know the whole story. Animals made the EDM go insane and bigger than ever. The sounds are so clean and hard it that they will blow up your speakers!
