VVEM presents panel and workshop on how to make dance events safer for everyone. The VVEM (Vereniging Van EvenementenMakers or the Association of Event Organisers) is organising the panel Do we have a (drug) Problem? and the workshop Dealing with Drugs. The panel will be held in Dutch, because it is focused on the situation in the Netherlands, but the workshop Dealing with Drugs will be in English.

The panel discusses the nature of the dance scene’s drug problems and how these problems can be prevented or solved. The panelists will also be looking at how society, the media and politicians should react in order to improve rather than worsen the situation. Panelists include Mona Keijzer (NL) Tweede Kamerlid CDA, Vera Bergkamp (NL), Tweede Kamerlid D66, Aron Friedman (NL), journalist and DJ, and Sjoerd Wynia (NL), Festival Director, ID&T.

The workshop will be taking a comprehensive and informed look at the dangers of drugs and alcohol use at events, as well as where organisers’ responsibilities start and finish, how to respond to incidents as well as the most effective ways to work with security, medics, health education projects, the media and the authorities. The workshop will feature a panel of experts including Laura-Eva Jacobson (NL), initiator of Celebrate Safe, Mirjam De Bok (NL), risk & crowd services manager ID&T and Ronald van Litsenburg (NL) of Event Medical Service.
