If you didn’t catch Zane Lowe‘s BBC Radio 1 show, then you probably missed the biggest news we can expect to hear in 2015. We’re talking about the possible comeback of one the most prolific musical acts that skyrocketed electronic dance music to new heights; the return of Swedish House Mafia.
Earlier on the program Zane Lowe premiered a new single from Axwell (without Sebastian Ingrosso) titled “Waiting For So Long,” followed by an interview with the Axtone label boss. In the interview, Zane and Axwell discuss about the possibility of a Swedish House Mafia reunion & well, check out exactly what he had to say below.
We think about it every now and then, you know what we left, what we did, what we accomplished and everything, and how it would be to do something together again. But I think, the only thing is that time will tell pretty much. We have been blessed to be riding this wave, and just ahead of the wave for some time now, so you know we are able to do exactly what we want, which is a blessing. You know this song that we just played, it was just like no thoughts, no need, no nothing, just music. Who knows what happens in the future, we might get a sudden urge for Swedish House Mafia again… who knows!
What makes these words different from previous questions on whether Swedish House Mafia would ever rise again is that these hinted that a reunion is an open possibility. In the past, the members have said that that it was never going to happen as Steve Angello went on to focus on his solo work and his label and Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso continued working together as Axwell Λ Ingrosso. Keep your eyes peeled and your ears open, as I’m sure the future will be bright should the formidable trio lead the way together once again.
