Before any superstar DJ makes it big, they do normal person stuff like getting shitty haircuts and taking awkward selfies. Pete Tong was even spotted once reading a book! Even in the time before Instagram (remember that?), there are going to be a few photos taken along the way, and we plumbed the depths of the internet to find the most hilarious and embarrassing shots of your favorite DJs before they got stylists and became all image conscious.

We all know the faces and styles of these DJs today, but how many can you recognize from back in the day? Kaskade looks like he’s part of a 90s breakdancing crew, Skrillex looks like someone you would see at a My Chemical Romance show, and Richie Hawtin looks like the dude you would see hanging out around the local comic book store. This just goes to show you that you should be nice to everybody you meet, you never know who is going to be the next Calvin Harris!
